While browsing through my scrap boxes I came across bits that reminded me of something else that was current in the 1850s and 60s: Paisley shawls, an example of which I have and a photo of which I will upload in my next post.

Merry Christmas! I have neglected my own blog and haven't read any of the new posts posted by my favourite bloggers and I can see a lot of interesting things... First of all I love your Christmassy collage - it's a perfect winter scene that made me long for snow (even here in Lithuania we haven't had a single snowflake). Also thank you for sharing some information about Charles Dickens and his houses - your writers' houses project is brilliant, very educational!
